"CuDerm Moves To Hosted Service From Cypress Communications"
Processor magazine featured Cypress-customer, CuDerm, in its June 2010 issue.
When Dallas, Texas,-based CuDerm relocated its offices last year, the company, which sells skin testing products and marketing services to hospitals and cosmetics firms, also left behind an open-source, in-house phone system in favor of a move to a hosted VoIP and unified communications managed service provided by Cypress Communications. The decision to go from an owned (and open-source) implementation to a completely outsourced solution was one that CuDerm made after evaluating several other providers and the pros and cons of going with a managed service.
While the case for hosted services as a money–saving measure has been widely made by now, the prospect of delivering unified communications, as a managed service still hasn’t achieved mass appeal. The technology is there, according to Atlanta-based hosted UC provider Cypress Communications, but the industry as a whole still has some distance to cover in helping potential users understand the offering.
"Hosted VoIP is a SIP phone and you’re done," said Frank Grillo, executive vice president of marketing and customer care at Cypress. Hosted UC by comparison is "really deep stuff. We’re talking about software on the desktop, LAN management, defining which applications users need. This is very specialized stuff."
Cypress Communications manages desktop communications for more than 60,000 business personnel nationwide. Cypress presently is making a vertical play with its specialized offerings, targeting the professional services sector, including the legal and financial industries.
"Failed Open Source VoIP Deployment Leads to Hosted VoIP Strategy"
When budgets are crimped, open source VoIP solutions look attractive — a little extra work for a lower cap-ex. But those savings came at a high price for one Texas company, which — after years of struggling and failing to tame open source VoIP — opted for a hosted VoIP service from Cypress Communications, an Atlanta-based service provider specializing in hosted VoIP for small to medium–sized businesses (SMBs) and simple conveniences—such as call transfers–became a reality.
"Dallas Market Center Offers New Wireless Access to Temporary Market Exhibitors"
As the saying goes, everything’s bigger in Texas, and Dallas Market Center is no exception. Currently the world’s most complete wholesale marketplace, Dallas Market Center is comprised of four buildings — World Trade Center, Trade Mart, International Floral & Gift Center ® and Market Hall — totaling more than five million square feet of space (that’s larger than the Sears Tower and roughly twice the size of the Empire State Building). To improve exhibitor’s experience and continue to attract business, Dallas Market Center set its sights on offering wireless access in the temporary exhibit space but needed to avoid major investments in time and money. Ultimately, Dallas Market Center turned to their long–time communications partner, Cypress Communications, to bring this highly coveted functionality to the World Trade Center building.
